All art must be original and made by you. All artists we accept work from must be between 16 - 25 years old.

Offroute invites 2D & 3D artists ages 18–25 to explore the ROLES we take on: chosen, assigned, natural, expected. Some roles are for ourselves and some are for others. Where does the line between who you are and who you present begin to blur?

In partnership with City Theatre's Young Playwrights' Festival, select pieces will be displayed in City Theatre's lobby in October 2026.

Submissions due 9/15.

Who can submit art?

Anyone ages 18–25
Must live in Pittsburgh or the Greater Pittsburgh Region

What kind of art can I submit?

2D or 3D artwork

Artwork will be on public view for all ages at City Theatre. Because of this, we cannot display artwork that is overly graphic, violent, or disturbing.

How does submission work?

If your artwork is accepted, you will receive a confirmation email no later than September 25.
We will send you a form where you will list for each piece that is accepted:
- Title
- Price or not for sale
- Size/measurements
Artists will drop off selected art at agreed-to times/locations.
We encourage you to attend plays and events during the Young Playwright's Festival - details to come!

Briefly tell us about yourself as an artist – what do you make? What inspires you? How long have you been making art?

How do you submission(s) relate or connect with the show theme of roles? Please note that art with no clear connection to the theme will not be considered.

Please submit one document with all of the images of the art you would like to submit (doc, pdf, slides, etc.).

If your art is selected, will will be in touch with a form for you to fill out in order to submit details about your art including titles, measurements, materials used, and prices. You are then responsible for dropping off your art to us.
