ART SUBMISSION F.A.Q.

WHAT QUALIFIES ME TO BE AN OFFROUTE ARTIST?
You are someone between 16 - 24 years old who makes and experiments with art. Even if you are brand new to art and are afraid to call yourself an artist, we're hear to help you build that confidence and sell your art!

WHAT TYPE OF ART DO YOU ACCEPT? DO YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC "AESTHETIC"?
Offroute accepts art of many different shapes, sizes*, and mediums.** Whether you have old projects lying around or want to start something new, we hope to give you a reason to connect your original art with people across the country. We make art selections based on style, originality, our current inventory, subject matter, and quality.
*We are currently only accepting pieces up to 10 x 12"
**We do not accept incredibly fragile art that could easily break in the mail; heavy pieces where the added shipping would exceed $50; pieces that could pose hazard to customers when opening up the art, like large pieces of broken glass. When in doubt, ask us!

HOW DO SALES WORK?
All art is sold on consignment. Artists set their prices and receive 100% of that price when a piece sells. We ask artists to price their pieces under $40 that so that with shipping, each piece is below $50.

DO YOU NEED MY ART?
Yes.

WHY DO YOU KEEP MY ART?
Once we receive your art, we photograph it and list it on the website, along with the information you have given us to share (i.e.: title, price, medium, etc.). It also guarantees that once a sale goes through we are able to ship it within one business day.

HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP MY ART FOR? WHAT HAPPENS IF IT DOESN'T SELL?
You and Offroute will agree to how long Offroute will keep your art-- most artists agree anywhere from 2 to 6 months. If your art does not sell during that time, we will email you to see if you want us to give your art back or if you want to keep it on the website longer. It's totally up to you!

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY ART SELLS?
As soon as Offroute receives payment from a customer, we send you payment via Paypal. Offroute ships the art and your artist's statement to the customer within one business day through USPS.

WHO DO YOU ACCEPT ART FROM? IS IT ONLY YOUNG PEOPLE?
While we do highlight the work of young artists, aged 16-24,  we do work with all artists who support the mission of Offroute and who want to connect a wide audience to affordable, handmade art. We are based in New York City, but work with artists and groups within the United States. Right now we cannot accommodate international sales or shipping (including art pieces to/from artists who are based internationally).

WHAT IF I HAVE ART FOR SALE ON OTHER WEBSITES?
That's fine! In fact, we are happy to share those links on offrouteart.com as well. We are not in competition with anyone, so we are happy to support artists on all platforms!

HOW DO I ACTUALLY SUBMIT WORK TO YOU? WHAT IF I HAVE QUESTIONS FIRST?
You can find the art submission form right below this answer! Please email offrouteart@gmail.com if you have any questions!
